Keeping familiar joys alive, one visit, one moment at a time.

Early dementia doesn’t erase who someone is  but unfamiliarity can slowly make the world feel unsafe. Backup Care Angels provides specialized, non-medical companionship and meaningful outings to help your loved one stay connected to familiar places, routines, and moments that bring comfort  while those connections still feel reassuring and real.

WHY EARLY COMPANIONSHIP MATTERS

Introducing a companion when dementia is still mild gives your loved one time to build trust and comfort, so  that as the disease changes, they don’t feel overwhelmed by “new faces.” Early rapport makes redirection easier, outings safer, and days more predictable.

Our approach supports:

  • Gentle routines

  • Familiar environments

  • Consistent companionship

  • Emotional stability

  • Cognitive engagement

  • Reduced anxiety and isolation

It’s not just about passing the time. It’s about creating days that feel safe, meaningful, and familiar.

How It Works

A SIMPLE PROCESS, DESIGNED TO EASE YOUR STRESS

Step 1 – Discovery Call

We discuss your loved one’s personality, routines, boundaries, and what brings them joy.

Step 2 – Building Comfort
We begin with 2–4 days a week to establish rapport. Consistency makes redirection easier and keeps your loved one grounded.

Step 3 – Regular Visits
Outings, at-home engagement, companionship, conversation, and gentle encouragement - all tailored to their mood that day.

Step 4 – Family Feedback
You receive short, calm updates so you always feel connected, informed, and at ease about your loved one’s day.

Our comprehensive safety and training protocols ensure the highest standards of quality and care. All team members undergo rigorous training before beginning work, with ongoing education and certification requirements.

Why I Created Backup Care Angels

This work began after walking beside someone who lived with moderate dementia seeing firsthand how familiarity, routine, and time spent in meaningful places brought him comfort and joy. It showed me how deeply individuals thrive when they feel understood, safe, and seen.

From that experience, I learned something essential:

It’s not just companionship — it’s connection.

And that connection must begin early to truly support them as dementia progresses. Backup Care Angel’s was created to offer families that same steady, reliable support.

Words From Loved Ones

“We were completely satisfied with every aspect of Didi’s care for my brother, who has moderate dementia. She showed empathy, compassion, and quick thinking, combined with an energetic, positive attitude. She consistently looked for healthy, stimulating activities and always encouraged him. When he became fixated on a negative thought, she calmly redirected him and eased the moment. Truly the best combination of personal, sympathetic, professional care. Thank you more than words can express  for the happiness you brought to him and the peace of mind you gave us, knowing he was receiving such wonderful, watchful care.”
